Save the date for our annual Fall Architectural Tour and join us for a decade by decade look at Frank Welch’s body of residential projects in Dallas. The timeline will take us from the 1960s up to Welch’s contemporary projects that were completed before his passing in June. The tour line up kicks off with the 1990 Shaw House on Meadowbrook Drive, and we will continue to add homes and details on a regular basis. We assure a distinctive line up of the best Frank Welch designed homes and you will not want miss this opportunity!
General tour tickets include five houses and are $50, and patron tour tickets are $100, which include an additional tour house as well as the patron party house. Members of Preservation Dallas receive a discount and get tickets for $40 and $85.
The day will begin at the Welch designed Cook Gymnasium at the Lamplighter School with morning refreshments and an architectural symposium. The discussion, moderated by Mark Lamster, Dallas Morning News Architecture Critic, will chronicle the development of Welch’s style in Dallas. The Lamplighter School Church is located at 11611 Inwood Road.
Home tour check in begins at 8:30 a.m. for refreshments and the symposium. The symposium begins at 9 a.m., and tour houses are open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees are REQUIRED to check in at the Lamplighter School. Reservations are required and non-refundable. An optional tour of the 1966 O’Neil Ford designed Lamplighter School will run 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. Please indicate your interest when you make your reservation.
