Fridays and Saturdays 8:00 pm | Sundays 3:00 pm

SHOW INFORMATION: Edward Stancliffe, the wealthy owner of a huge Texas ranch, has died. His house staff, only living relative, and other estranged guests converge for the reading of the will, only to be surprised by a mysterious love potion that has been left to them. But this is not like other love potions as it does not affect the person who drinks it. Rather, this powerful aphrodisiac causes them to give off an almost imperceptible odor to the opposite sex — with devastating effects. When a rainstorm floods the nearby creek and forces the guests to stay overnight in the mansion, they secretly test the love potion with hilarious results while millions — and the ranch — may be at stake. But, does it work? Between thinking the potion is potent and believing it's a ruse, the audience is drawn into the mystery and hilarity. The flow of characters in and out (and from under) the beds reaches a frenetic pace before the startling truth is revealed!

AUDITION INFORMATION: Bring a current headshot and resume. Audtions will consist of cold readings from the script.

ONSTAGE in Bedford is a volunteer/member organization. We cannot engage Equity performers.

CHARACTER INFORMATION: Casting 3 men and 4 women. All parts require strong comedic abilities.

MELODY — age 20-30; the late Mr Stancliffe's maid; drops things, breaks things; pursued throughout the play by Michael; a natural comedienne, young, perky, sexy

JARVIS — age 50+; the late Mr Stancliffe's butler, can be English or American, but should not be Texan; suave and serious, but with a sparkling dry wit

PATRICE — age 30-50; the late Mr Stancliffe's neice and heiress tohis estate; the love potion and reveals a romantic and passionate side of herself; elegant, attractive, sophisticated

MICHAEL — age 30-50; Patrice's husband and an inveterate lecher; sets his sights on Melody; brash, loud, self-centered; not very likeable

MR. OAKFIELD — age 40+; a short, balding, overweight lawyer, who gives the impression of a quiet, mild-mannered man until he spends most of Act II trying (unsuccessfully) to find a vacant bathroom

TAMMY-JO — age 25-40; the neighbor from across the creek; appears to be a fairly straight character for most of the play, but later has her «moment in the sun» as a sensuous temptress; very Texan, very beautiful

MARY-LOU — age 30-50; a serious, matronly ornithologist; changed by the love potion; plain then glamorous; conservative, then sexy; shy, then outrageous
